what i do is i put it in both labial and velar, that might just be me though.

@FoksTweeMoon Looking back, I do think it is more bilabial than velar.

I usually put it under velar since I think of it as a semi-vowel corresponding to a rounded back vowel. But yeah you could put it under either, and you may have phonological features or processes in your conlang that may provide more reason to put it under one than the other. I do personally think that putting it under both tho is overkill.

It really just depends on who you ask. Most put it in both, some in labial, others in velar/guttural, and the IPA says "it's nowhere on the chart".

@ConTreeby "Most put it in both"? Where did you get that from? That is definitely not the most common way of handling it in my experience.

From what I've observed, the most common way of handling it is to put /w/ under the velar column. Wikipedia usually takes this route; see for instance the consonant chart on the Wikipedia article for "English language."
