Stress and Syllable Length
Syllable length is used to determine stress. A syllable had a length of one if it had a short vowel as the nucleus and had no coda, a length of 2 if it had a long vowel as the nucleus and no coda or a short vowel as the nucleus and it had a coda, and a length of 3 if it had a diphthong as the nucleus or a long vowel as the nucleus and a coda.
