Eskalan (natively Eskaliki [ˌɛsˈka.lɪ.kiː] is a language spoken in Eskala (Eskalik [ˌɛsˈka.lɪk]), a country on Mars formed by humans who colonized it. It is spoken by citizens of Eskala and surrounding areas as a lingua franca. It is considered a creole language, since it is a mixture of Spanish, German and Welsh.
General Information[]
When humans first made settlements on Mars, a flux of Spanish, German and Welsh inhabitants made a country called Eskala on the newly-inhabited planet. They then decided to make a creole out of their languages to go with the newly-founded nation.
It was created with three ambitions: one was to create a language with easily-identifiable sounds towards speakers of Spanish, German and Welsh, the second one was to not include words that aren't originally from those languages, and three was to develop a language which is easy to learn among speakers of those languages and speakers of other languages.

Orthography[]
Eskalan follows a simple letter-to-sound correspondence, that is, not counting the vowels, which are pronounced differently, according to the position they're in, as described below.
Vowels use their short forms in unstressed syllables, their long forms in stressed syllables, and, for I, U, and Ü, their semivowel forms before consonants. E, however, has a schwa, which appears only word-finally.

The Eskalan alphabet has 24 letters.
