Southlandic

Southlandic (southlandic: sådlensk) is a langauge sproken in Southland (Sådland) in the southern part of Fogdaröd. Southlandic is closely related to swedish, norwegian and danish and to other germanic languages. Southlandic have many dialects. Some dialects are so distant from southlandic that they can be called own languages.

Western Dialects

The western dialects (vestmål) is spoken in western Southland around Sådlands Landsby. In western Southlands is it very much Agriculture. The western dialects features a uvular trill ʀ. Here´s a sample text in the dialects of Sådlands Landsby

Eastern Dialects

The eastern dialects is spoken in the eastern Southland in the spruce forests. The eastern dialects are closer to Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse than to standard Southlandic. The eastern dialects are very different from each other. Someone from Hugga in the east and Långebyfaraben in the east can have problem with understanding each other. The eastern dialects have special sounds. They have a alveolar trill r and they have Voicless and voiced dental fricatives. θ and ð which are written as þ and ð. Northern Dialects

The northern dialects of Southland is spoken in the northern part of Southland in Elvdala and Ånskåed. The northern dialects is more simular to swedish than standard southlandic is. The northern dialects is not so different from standard Southlandic that a Southlander can´t undertstand them. The northern dialects have the same phonology as Standard Southlandic but they feature a alveolar trill [r] which in Standard Southlandic is a uvular fricative [ʁ] Here´s a sample text in Nårdmål:

Central Dialects

The central dialects of Southland is spoken in the central part of Southland in Afrika (capital), Rotatorpet and Jernkråka. The Central Dialects is the most standard variant of Southlandic. In Afrika you speak also a variant called Afrikamål which are not the Standard Variant. Also in Afrika you speak Rikssådlensk (Standard Southlandic) which are the standard variant. In Jernkråka features a alveoar trill [r] but in Rotatorpet and Afrika is it a uvular fricative [ʁ]. Here´s a sample text in the central dialect from Afrika:

Afrikamål

literally means Afrika dialect is a sociolect spoken in Afrika especially in the north-east part of Afrika in Påfågeln. Afrikamål is a slang of Southlandic. The Afrikamål features a voiced retroflex flap [ɽ] in stead of a l in standard Southlandic. Here´s a sample text in Afrikamål

Arketåmål

literally means Arketåby dialect is a dialect spoken in the southwestern part of Southland. The Arketåby dialects has many simularities with the Gaelic languages. For example the word for grandmother in Standard Southlandic is bestemåder but in Arketåby dialects is it seanmatar in Irish Gaelic is it seanmháthair. The arketåby dialects features an alveolar approximant [ɹ] and the arketåby dialects are also very simular to the english pronounciation. Here´s a sample text in Arketåmål
