Westspraak is meant to serve as an auxiliary language for speakers of any Western Germanic language. The language borrows heavily from English, German, Dutch, and Afrikaans, with some minor influences from West Frisian and Low German.

The grammar of Westspraak is relatively simple and borrowed heavily off of other West Germanic languages, with nouns and verbs being derived mostly from German and Dutch, and the syntax mainly after English and Afrikaans.

Verbs[]
All verbs in Westspraak have either an -n or -en ending in the infinitive form. To form the present tense of a regular verb, simply drop the ending. No additional conjugation is needed. This works for all verbs except a few irregular verbs such as sein, kunnen, and sullen.
